Lab 3 - Create a domain model

Lab Goal

To create a new domain model with the Process Automation Manager data modeling tooling

Create new domain model

  • Open MENU at the top and select:
    • DESIGN -> PROJECT

Open rewards project

  • Select the REWARDS project

Add new asset

  • Open new assets view:
    • click on ADD ASSET button

Add new data object

  • Select new data object from list:
    • click on DATA OBJECT

Create employee object

  • Create Employee
    • Fill out pop-up as shown and click on OK button:

  • Add label Employee to general properties and click SAVE and again on confirm pop-up SAVE:

  • Add the first property 'name' to employee object
  • Click on ADD FIELD button to open pop-up editor:

  • Fill out fields for name property as shown
  • Click on CREATE button to add field to object

  • Employee object should look like the following:

  • Now add DEPT as shown using ADD FIELD button:

  • Be sure to SAVE your work by clicking button top right
  • Optionally add a comment and click SAVE button in pop-up

  • Finished Employee object in our domain model for now...
  • Later we'll add an Award field, but first we need to create the Award object

Create award object

  • To add Award object, first have to return to Asset view
  • Click on rewards project in bread crumb menu at top
  • (Returning to Asset view can be done at any time)

  • Click on ADD ASSET -> DATA OBJECT to open data modeling pop-up and create Award object as shown:

  • Add label Award to general properties and click SAVE and again on confirm pop-up SAVE:

  • Click on ADD FIELD and add AWARD property:

  • Click on SAVE AND CONTINUE to add second property EXPLANATION:

  • Finished Award object in our domain model

Browse data objects

  • Another way to work with the data objects; open the side menu
  • Click on the left most arrow '>' to expand the side menu
  • Click on DATA OBJECTS to view, note the lock indicates working on AWARD data object:

Finalize employee object

  • Finalize employee by adding Award object as property
  • Click on Employee object to open in left side menu
  • Click on ADD FIELD button for new field pop-up
  • Fill fields as shown and click on CREATE button to add:

Don't forget to save

  • Click SAVE and again on confirm pop-up SAVE:

  • Click on rewards project (use bread crumb menu at the top) and view the domain model assets, this ends lab 3:
